Introduction:

SAMBITSUTRA, a mental health initiative established in August 2018, aims at providing psychological, clinical and therapeutic support to differently abled children and young adults (3 to 25 years of age).

We provide Occupational Therapy, Academic Courses, Pre-Vocational & Vocational Training.

AIM:

Based on feedback and guidance from leading medical practitioners of Kolkata, SAMBITSUTRA is providing Academic Courses, Vocational Training and Occupational Therapy to give a holistic support to this age group for attaining

Occupational Therapy:

Occupational Therapy for mentally differently abled means a variety of activities that ‘engage’ or ‘occupy’ them in a productive way so that they develop behavioural training and some skills in a friendly environment with like-minded peer group to help them to get rid of the boredom of staying at home without doing anything.

Through these set of activities and grooming, therapists help in the development of social and communication skills and life skills. According to psychiatrists, along with proper medication, this kind of engagement with positive activities and regular communication with therapists/teachers and friends make them happy and relaxed, increase their confidence and ensures significant improvement of their mental conditions.

SAMBITSUTRA offers physical exercise, painting, pottery making, yoga, chanting and meditation, martial art, grooming sessions for life skill development, computing, basic maths, spoken English, music, dance, recitation, drama and group counselling sessions as part of Occupational Therapy courses.

Course Plan:

SAMBITSUTRA has devised a course plan which is a combination of academic tutorial classes, vocational training and occupational therapies.

This is done to provide all learners, maximum possible hours, of engagement in a learning and skill developing environment beneficial for their overall growth.

COURSES

‘KHELTE KHELTE SHIKHI’-(3 to 6 years) is a play school concept run once a week, as a preparatory course for future academic and vocational courses.

This is done with guidelines for parents so that they can engage their kids throughout the week based on the methods taught in SAMBITSUTRA.

SAMBITSUTRA provides tutorial support for the following NIOS courses:

• OBE Level A(EQUIVALENT TO CLASS I – III)
• OBE Level B(EQUIVALENT TO CLASS IV – V)
• OBE Level C(EQUIVALENT TO CLASS VI – VIII)
• NIOS Secondary Course(EQUIVALENT TO CLASS X)

SAMBITSUTRA also makes arrangement for examination of its students through renowned NIOS accredited study centre in Kolkata.
